Like me and everyone else, you’ve got a few big plans or bucket list items you keep intending to do. But every year there they are, still on your “big intentions” list. It’s one of life’s greatest challenges: how to align our daily life with our DESIRED life. How to learn to say no and set healthier boundaries, and make room for our life plans and goals – our bigger YES’s!
I know you know there is a way. I know you know that you can find it. There are habits and tools SO SIMPLE – my clients call them their FAVORITE HACKS. They use them again and again, as they tackle another new goal or even a simple but daunting task.
I’m going to share these TOP FIVE HACKS that will help you make room for more of what matters to you in a day, and clear away more of what doesn’t. But there’s just one catch: you’ve got to SHOW UP and TRY THEM! Here they are….
LIFE HACK ONE: HOW TO TIME-BLOCK FOR SERIOUS FOCUS
Regardless of our age our our station in life, we all have some form of routine or schedule that moves us through our days. A time we wake and sleep, eat and play, shop and cook, rest and socialize. However your own days play out, my Time-Blocking tool lets you visually spell out your time in a one week window – just seven days – and discover for yourself the time you really have – right now! – to start planning. The Time-Blocking tool lets you pin point the “time-sucker” habits and events in your days, and start replacing them with gradual “action steps” towards your higher-priority plans. This session is 40-minutes, with 20 additional minutes of “post-discussion and Q&A” for all who have time to continue.
LIFE HACK TWO: WHEN AND HOW TO SAY “NO” (TO MAKE ROOM FOR YOUR “YES”)
Raise your hand if you have trouble saying NO. If you’re a parent, a child, an employee, a boss, a human – you were taught at a very young age to wait your turn, be polite, let others go first, and do your fair share. With Life Hack Two, I’ll share a few short, firm ways you can politely SAY NO and stay on track with your highest priorities. Saying no protects your schedule; it keeps you FOCUSED and on path with your plans. We’re going to retrain your brain and start putting you first!
LIFE HACK THREE: USE THE MIND MAP TO KEEP YOU ON COURSE
When’s the last time you tried to explain an exciting idea or simple concept to someone without a pen and paper? Without something to draw on? Some of history’s greatest inventions were sketched on cocktail napkins! For any goal you hope to move on, it helps to map out your visual plan. A physical “mental picture.” We call this mind-mapping. It’s FUN, and I’ll show you how to do it.
LIFE HACK FOUR: FUN WITH DIGITAL DETOX – SCHEDULED “TIME-OUTS” FROM YOUR SCREENS
By now we’re well aware of the negative impacts excessive screen time has on our state of well-being. In a word, it can be toxic. As with all things in life, moderation is key, and in this session I share surprising facts that connect the dots from our device-use to its disruption of our mental and emotional state. Then I share two SIMPLE TOOLS for you to assess and regulate your own screen time schedule – without ever disrupting your work demands. In fact these hacks should improve your performance!
LIFE HACK FIVE: A SWIFT KICK OF MOMENTUM! SWITCH YOUR BRAIN LIGHT BACK ON WITH THIS PRACTICE
For the rest of our lives, there will be days and sometimes weeks when we feel maxed out and tapped out – creatively, mentally, physically, or all three! In this fun and focused hack session, I share a favorite “reset” tool that you can use on those days or “seasons” you feel mentally drained or physically fatigued. The brain/gut connection is real. As with all of my sessions, I’ll share a few key facts to show you why your feelings of stress, anxiety, and foggy brain are your brain’s way of telling you to do this hack!
